Mathew Tait was born in Christchurch New Zealand in 1970. A lifelong love of drawing led him eventually to attend the Ilam School of Art at Canterbury University from which he emerged in 1992 with a BFA in Painting.

After that he did a lot of moving around; living in the States and the UK amongst other places. He painted, drew comix and did a variety of pay-the-bills-type jobs including fish factory hand, bike courier, landscape gardener and apple-picker.

More recently he seems to have settled in Motueka, a small town in rural New Zealand where he has plenty of time to pursue his artistic goals (mostly comix currently) with little financial pressure.

He has recently had comix work published in Pure Evil #5, Comix2000, Studygroup12, Loose Magazine and Kramer's Ergot.
